The Wildcats would start off the new season of basketball under Head Coach Kile Dill on the road last Thursday in North Shelby. The Raiders would open the game as the Lady Raiders had done with a 3-pointer. Jakobi Mason would answer for the Cats on their first trip to the basket with a reverse layup. The Raiders would follow with a jumper but Kade Shaver would answer with his own for Bevier. The Raiders would drop in the next seven points before Shaver stopped the run with a free-throw. The Raiders would not be slowed down much and would add the last seven points of the opening quarter to lead 6-20. Mason would put the Cats back on the board with a layup to open the second frame. Shaver would pitch in some defense with a blocked shot in the paint for Bevier. North Shelby then went outside with a 3-pointer to extend the advantage to 8-23. Mason would reply with a trey for Bevier and Shaver would follow him with a jumper to cut the lead to 11-25. The Raiders would add another run to end the first half but the final bucket would be collected by Shaver with a layup. North Shelby would start the second half with a 1-9 run, the Wildcat score coming on a free-throw by Jacob Wriedt. Mason would add two more points for Bevier at the charity stripe and Shaver closed the quarter with a 3-pointer. The Wildcats would trail the Raiders at the end of three periods 19-47. The final frame would start off with back-to-back layups from Shaver and Wriedt. The Raiders would hit their free-throws down the stretch to maintain the lead. Matthew Shrum would add one more point for Bevier from the line but the Wildcats would take the loss 24-54.
