The Lady Wildcats would begin their whirlwind tour of the 2017-2018 basketball season on the road last Tuesday night. Bevier would make the trip to North Shelby to take on the Lady Raiders. The Lady Raiders would win the tip and add the first basket of the game with a 3-pointer. The Lady Cats would answer right back with a jumper by Tierra Wolfe. North Shelby would follow with a home cooking fueled run of nine points to lead 2-12. A steal by Anna Miller would lead to a layup by Kandace Inskip for the Lady Cats. North Shelby went into a full court press but Bevier was able to break it with a layup by Wolfe, 6-12. Emilie Nolte cut the lead to only four with a jumper for Bevier. The Lady Raiders however would extend the advantage with a four point run to end the first quarter scoring 8-16. Scout Foster would kick off the next frame with a jumper for Bevier. North Shelby would step up with a 10 point scoring drive to extend the advantage to 10-26. Mary Bradley would keep Bevier in the contest as she broke up the next run by the Lady Raiders with two baskets. The second of the two coming on a nice turnaround jumper. The Lady Cats however would trail 14 to 34. Anna Miller would lift the purple sprits to end the first half with back to back scores to trail 18-34. Foster would start the second half with a Wildcat score but the Raiders would answer with four points. Bradley pitched in another layup for the ladies to cut the lead to 22-38. North Shelby would again extend the lead with a run before a jumper by Bradley. The quarter would end with another score from Mary and a put back by Miller. After three periods, Bevier trailed 28-44 to North Shelby. The Lady Raiders would seal the deal to open the final frame. North Shelby put in six points to open the period, 28-50. Bradley would add three more points for Bevier at the line and Jerzey Allen would drop in a basket for Bevier, but it would not be enough. The Lady Cats would drop the season opener 33-52 on the road.
