The season for the Bucklin-Macon County Lady Raiders kicked off last Monday in New Cambria. Up first on the hit list was the visiting Lady Tigers of Keytesville. The Lady Tigers started out hot by posting the first eight points of the game to hold an early lead. Damara Riley would end that run with a layup and score the first points of the year for the Raiders. Reka Behrman would join the act with another layup cutting the lead in half. Keytesville would answer with 4 point run to extend the lead to 4-12. Behrman and Kellen Robertson would drop in a pair of jumpers for B-MC to keep pace. The Lady Tigers would score one more time before the end of the first quarter but Andrea Peterson would have the last word with a layup. At the end of one period B-MC trailed 10-14. The Lady Tigers would again score the first points of a quarter with a jumper. Robertson would match that score with a put back to keep the game close. Keytesville added four more points to extend the lead to 12-20. The Lady Raiders would then go on a run to change momentum. Robertson dropped in the next 4 points and was followed by a 3-pointer by Peterson. Robertson would complete the comeback with a layup to take the lead 21-20. The Lady Tigers would grab it back with one more basket to end the half but back to back blocks from Peterson and Robertson kept them from adding to their lead. Robertson would open the second half with a score to regain the lead. The Tigers would take it right back but Robertson would answer again with back to back scores. Keytesville kept it close with another score but the 3rd quarter ended with a trey by Lexi Finney and a Robertson jumper to lead 32-26. The Lady Tigers crawled back to within two, to start the final frame. Peterson would collect a big offensive rebound and score. Behrman added another basket to go up 36-30. Robertson made the advantage 8 with another layup and would add another on a drive down the baseline after a Keytesville score. Kellen would keep the Tigers at bay with another score to end a 4 point run by the Tigers. Behrman ended the scoring at the charity stripe with two free-throws to end the game. B-MC opened the season with a 44-36 victory.
