William “Billy” Howell Schmidt

William “Billy” Howell Schmidt, 87 of Callao passed away at the Macon Health Care center on Saturday, January 7, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Billy was born February 12, 1929 at the family home west of Callao. He graduated from Callao School in 1947. He is the son of Fred and Lela King Schmidt. He married Wanda Smith Schmidt on August 26, 1948. Together, they had three children Clifford (wife Debby) of Macon, Richard (wife Tanya) of Macon, Carla Farrington, (husband John) of Callao. He has 8 grandchildren, Chandra Schmidt, Angie Christenson, Samuel Schmidt, Anna Van Delft, Jacque Lampkin, Valerie Schmidt, Lonny Farrington, and Kayla Richardson. He has 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was a member of the Callao Christian Church. He was a farmer, mechanic, great handyman, he loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Billy was a very generous man that loved helping anyone and everyone.

He was preceded by death by his parents, three sisters, a brother, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Bro Richard Castle and Bro. Jim Bolin officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery northwest of Callao. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials contributions to the Mt. Zion Cemetery or Randy Johnson Memorial Fund.
