Geneva Boley, age 87, of Rothville, died Friday, August 19, 2016, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline.

A funeral service will be Monday, August 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Brian Baker officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Brookfield. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 in the evening at the funeral home.

Geneva Grace, daughter of Ivy "Casey" and Thelma (Meldrum) Johnson, was born April 1, 1929, in New Cambria. On August 13, 1947, she married Fred Boley, Jr. who preceded her in death on July 20, 1968.

Geneva had worked as a typist and proofreader for Walsworth Publishing Company. She also worked on the production line at Brown Shoe Company in Brookfield and as a secretary for a Major at a hospital in Fort Leonard Wood. She had worked for the Linn County Water Shed and part-time for the Post Office in Rothville.

She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, the Eagle’s Women’s Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star, and she did audits for all three organizations and kept their books. She was also a Toastmaster and a member of the First Baptist Church in Marceline.

Survivors include five children, Leah Stanley of Rothville, Lois Thornsberry of Lee’s Summit, John Daniel Boley of Urich, Lenora Jo Wahlgren of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Ila Lorine Shaw of Leander, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Her parents and three brothers also preceded her in death.
