Loyes Benson

Loyes Benson, 83, of Macon, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon.

Loyes was born on March 15, 1932, in Clarksdale, MS, the son of Barry and Rosie (Black) Benson. Loyes was united in marriage to Norma Taylor on September 8, 1963 in Chicago, IL. Loyes served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the steel mill in Chicago after 30 years of service. He enjoyed reading, playing golf and especially spending time with his family.

Loyes is survived by his wife, Norma, four children, Loyes Benson, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Kevin Benson of Macon, Shea Kirk of Macon and Shannon Benson of Macon, thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, two brothers, Willie Benson and Barry Benson, one sister, Virginia Toney and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Sonny Benson and one sister Helen Drake

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Holy Trinity Church in Macon. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO.
