Elizabeth Irene Gillispie

Elizabeth Irene Gillispie, 81, of Moberly, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Moberly Nursing and Rehab. She had been in failing health. Irene was born April 17, 1935, in Moberly, to Lamuel Walter and Bertha (Kirkendoll) Lynn.

She married William Earl Gillispie on July 30, 1955 in Moberly, and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2014. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a sister Marguerite Kitchen, a grandson Joseph Walter Ferguson, and a great-grandson, Zander Wayne Gillispie.

Survivors include her children, Gerald Gillispie and wife Sue of Moberly, LaWanda Ferguson of Yates, Gina Salmon of Cairo; eight grandchildren, Cory Gillispie and wife Lindsey of Columbia, Misty Gully and husband Jason of Huntsville, Jeremy Gillispie and wife Debbi of Madison, Tommy Gillispie and wife Alicia of Moberly, Harley Ferguson of Yates, Megan Salmon and Jason Wright of Moberly, Jacob Salmon and Marjorie Salmon of Cairo; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Given of Moberly, Darlene Briggs of Moberly, Ella Morgan and husband Dennis of Moberly; a brother Thomas Lynn and wife Nancy of Moberly; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; a sister-in-law Betty Hallowell; other relatives and friends.

Irene loved to collect salt and pepper shakers.

Services honoring and celebrating Irene’s life will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville. Committal prayers and burial will follow at the cemetery.
