John Richard Cross Obituary

John Richard Cross, 91, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Macon Health Care Center in Macon, MO.

John was born on September 8, 1932 in Callao, MO, the son of Thomas and Irene (Thomas) Cross. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Kaye Tuttle on March 25, 1960 in Callao, MO, she preceded him in death on January 21, 1990. He found love a second time and married Theresa Collins on April 11, 1992 in Clarence, MO. He enjoyed gardening, camping, playing cards, watching westerns and The St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Theresa Cross of the home; three children, Danny Cross and his wife Lisa of Bevier, MO, Shayne Cross and his wife Beth of Bevier, MO, and Julie Collins and her husband Layne of Macon, MO; two step children, Kristi Lemanski and her husband Steve of Kewanee, IL, and Bryan Collins and Jessica Feldman of Holt Summit, MO; eight grandchildren, Brian Leath (Peggy), April Cross, Nathan Cross (Rebecca), Cassie Berry (Cameron), Kaytlin Claypoole (Ryan), Abby Brown (Aaron), Quenton Collins, and Landon Collins; seven great-grandchildren, Spencer Cross, Ireland Cross, Zadie Cross, Adley Cross, Rylan Claypoole, Ryder Claypoole, and Harlyn Brown; one brother, Willie Cross of Bevier, MO; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Kaye; daughter, Rosemary Ray; grandson, Mason Leath; one brother, Tommy Cross; one sister, Edythe Nute; brother-in-law, Damon Nute; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Cross and Nellie Cross; and son-in-law, Tommy Ray.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, MO. Burial will be in Locust Grove in Callao, MO. Visitation will be Friday at 9:00 am, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Locust Grove Cemetery.
