Here’s what is happening at the Macon County Health Department the week of May 23rd –

1. WIC Certifications and pick-ups – appointments should be listed in the participant’s folder and is available in the WIC shopper app. If you are unsure when your next appointment is or would like to make one, call us at 660-395-4711. WIC recently updated their income guidelines as of May 1st – to qualify a family of 4 can make $4,279 per month.

a. WIC has approved a lot of different sizes and brands of formula to help redeem WIC benefits during the formula shortage. If you have any questions about what is approved, which formulas you can pick up, or changing formulas to be able to get something more available – give us a call so we can help.

2. CPR Class for Healthcare Providers – Tuesday, May 24th. Registration required and cost is $40 for the certification.

3. COVID-19 vaccinations – Thursday, May 26th. We are offering Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters by appointment. We still have appointments available, call ahead at 660-395-4711 or request an appointment online

a. Second boosters of Pfizer and Moderna are available to certain immunocompromised individuals and people over the age of 50 who received an initial booster dose at least 4 months ago to help increase their protection against severe disease from COVID-19.

Clinical Services – We offer clinical services such as blood draws (with doctor’s orders), injections (with doctor’s orders), cholesterol screenings, blood pressure checks, TB tests, childhood and adult immunizations. Call ahead or walk in for services.

Upcoming Events –

5. June 1st at 9 am - CPR/AED/First Aid Certification Course. Open to the public, registration is required and cost of the class is $40

We will be closed next Monday, May 30th in observation of Memorial Day.
