The COVID-19 vaccines help prevent severe illness, hospitalization, and death due to COVID-19. Data shows that those who are unvaccinated have a greater risk of testing positive and dying from COVID-19 than those who are unvaccinated.
Booster doses help improve the body's response to fight off the COVID-19 virus, should you come infected. The recommendation to get a booster vaccination is based on the evidence that the booster dose helps improve immunity overtime after the initial series. Boosters are recommended 5 months after the initial Pfizer and Moderna series for individuals 12 and up. Individuals who got the J&J vaccine can receive a booster 2 months after the initial dose and choose J&J, Pfizer or Moderna as their booster.
