May 5 COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 vaccines continue to be given throughout Macon County to help protect residents. According to the DHSS dashboard, 7,231 vaccines doses have been administered, 3,964 people have initiated their vaccine series and 3,384 people have completed their vaccine series. In Macon County, 26.2% of the population has initiated their vaccine and 22.4% of the population has completed their vaccine series.

During the week of April 28 – May 4, 2021, there were three new cases of COVID-19. Currently, there are four active cases and no residents are hospitalized.

The best protection from COVID-19 will be a combination of getting a COVID-19 vaccine, wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces, and washing your hands often.
