Winter Storm Warning issued for Macon and Shelby County

MACON, MO -- The United States National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning for Macon and Shelby County from midnight tonight until 8 p.m. on Friday (January 1st). The weather service announced that they are expecting a mixed precipitation of snow and ice with accumulations reaching anywhere from 1-3 inches of snow along with up to four tenths of an inch of ice. Impacts include possible power outages along with a more hazardous morning commute for New Years Day. It is projected that Macon and Shelbina will begin seeing precipitation shortly after midnight and into the early morning hours of January 1st.

The Winter Weather Warning has also been issued for the majority of counties north of Jefferson City spanning from the western to the eastern part of the state including all counties surrounding Macon County.
