BREAKING: 1st case of COVID-19 in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, MO — Health officials earlier today confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in Shelby County.

Official Press Release by the Shelby County Health Department:

“The Shelby County Health Department has received confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in Shelby County. The resident is currently hospitalized and receiving medical care at Hannibal Regional Hospital and is recovering. We will not be releasing any further information on this patient to protect their privacy. The Shelby County Health Department will be working with the person to ensure compliance with the Department of Health and Senior Services and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines with regard to isolation and in identifying close contacts with other individuals to monitor for their symptoms. The Shelby County Health Department is also working with the Hannibal Regional Hospital which is providing medical over sight for this client.“
