Macon Electric Foundation Awards Grant to Carousel Productions

August 20, 2019

The Macon Electric Foundation awarded Carousel Productions with a grant for $500 to help purchase an intercom and communications system for the Royal Theatre in downtown Macon. The Foundation’s community grants are funded through Operation Round Up, where Macon Electric Cooperative (MEC) members and PWSD of Macon County customers can elect to have their bills each month rounded up to the next dollar. The proceeds are used to benefit area non-profits through a system of quarterly grants, awarded by the Foundation’s volunteer board of directors.

“The Macon Electric Foundation Board recognizes the value that Carousel Productions brings to Macon County and our surrounding communities,” stated Mike Nelson, Macon Electric Foundation Board President. “By partnering with Carousel Productions in the purchase of a new communications system, we hope to fulfill our mission of ‘concern for community’ and to enhance the entertainment and cultural options available in our area.”
MEC members and PWSD customers can help give back to their communities by signing up for Operation Round Up. Members can register online at www.maconelectric.com/operation-round-up, or contact the office at (660) 385-3157.
“This grant opportunity would not be possible without the generosity of the MEC members and PWSD customers who have signed up to participate in Operation Round Up,” stated Nelson. “If you would like to be a part of this group and help give back to our communities, please contact MEC to sign up today.”

Organizations can apply for a Macon Electric Foundation grant by submitting an application to the Macon Electric Cooperative office prior to the due date for each quarter. The 2019 third quarter applications are due on September 13. Interested organizations can visit MEC’s website for more information: www.maconelectric.com/macon-electric-foundation.
