MACON, MO -- Long Branch Lake in Macon, Missouri has resumed to normal levels for the first time this summer. In May of 2019, the lake began its upward clime after continuous rain fell throughout the region. On May 30th, the lake reached an all time high of 806 msl (mean seal level), which was an approximate increase of 15 feet - this brought several closures throughout the state park including the beach, all boat ramps, the spillway, and several campsites. The normal operating level of the reservoir is 791 msl. Over the weekend, Long Branch finally fell below 792 msl with a current level of approximately 791.80 msl. Long Branch has a self regulating spillway which determines on its own, how much water to release depending on the pressure applied as the water rises or falls on the lakeside of the dam.
