Middle Fork Chariton River and Overflow bridges east of Salisbury set to be replaced

SALISBURY, Mo. – Located just east of Salisbury on U.S. Route 24, the Middle Fork Chariton River and Overflow bridges have been serving motorists since 1946. A replacement project to bring both Chariton County bridges up to current standards will be led by contractors from E & C Bridge, LLC., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation. Crews plan to begin construction on both bridges this coming Monday, August 5, 2019 at 8 a.m.

Construction will be staged to allow one lane of traffic over each bridge throughout the project. Crews will begin work on the north side of the bridges, shifting traffic to the south, then will continue on the south sides, shifting traffic to the newly constructed noth sides. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place throughout the project.

Temporary traffic signals will be used to guide motorists through the work zones of both bridges with a reduced speed limit of 50 mph. Contractors plan to have the bridges open to two-way traffic by in January 2020. As with all construction, work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
