Chariton Valley and Macon Electric Cooperative Hold Second Annual Softball Fundraiser

On Thursday, July 18, Chariton Valley (CV) and Macon Electric Cooperative (MEC) fans filled the stands at the Bevier ball field to watch the second annual Battle of the Co-ops slow pitch softball game. The purpose for the event was to raise money for the Bevier Baseball Association. The competition is an annual event with the intention of hosting it at different ball fields throughout CV and MEC’s service territories in the future.

This year, the game raised over $500 for the Bevier Baseball Association. The game ended with a score of 15-10, with Chariton Valley being the victor.

“Two local cooperatives have come together with a common goal – to give back to our communities,” stated Allie Bennett, MEC Marketing and Communications Manager. “We love working with Chariton Valley through our Co-ops in Action projects and this ball game is just an extension of our cooperation as neighboring cooperatives.”

“We are excited to join forces with Macon Electric Cooperative,” stated Donna Bell, CV Manager of Public Relations and Economic Development. “We are looking forward to next year’s game!”
