Gregory L. James, age 68, of Imperial, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Mercy-South Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri due to a motorcycle accident.

Gregory was born on September 6, 1950, the son of Arthur S. and Virginia Arlene (Heitmeyer) James.
Greg was a graduate of South Shelby High School in 1968 and later graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (Truman State) in Kirksville, Missouri. After school he joined the Air Force in 1973. He was a member of the Jefferson Heights Baptist Church. Greg lived in the St. Louis area over the last 40 years. He worked at McDonald Douglas for 15 years, and later operated a carpet cleaning business and drove a school bus. He had many hobbies, including fishing, walking on park trails, and completing crossword puzzles. Greg also enjoyed motorcycling, model airplanes, and attending air shows.

He is survived by his two brothers, Art Wayne James (Kristen) of Hemet, California, and Curtis Fredrick James (Robbie) of Shelbina, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Heather, Jocelyn, Jason, Michael, and Suzanne; and a great niece and nephew, Mallorey and Levi.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 9 am to 11 am, followed by the funeral service at 1 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri. Burial will be held in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, Missouri. Memorials may be made to American Red Cross or Jefferson Heights Baptist Church.
