Vernon Lee Janes September 28, 1946 - May 07, 2019

Vernon Lee Janes, 72, 0f Macon, MO, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at the Boone County Medical Center in Columbia, MO.

Vernon was born on September 28, 1946, in Macon, the son of Roy V. and Martha Lee (Kilet Cross) Janes. He was united in marriage to Martha “Marti” Mae Smith on August 23, 1969, in Sumner, IL. Vernon was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church in Macon where he was very active and had served as Elder. He had also served churches as a Minister and Youth Minister. Vernon worked at MFA in Macon for twenty-three years and later at the Clarence Care Center for sixteen years before retiring because of his illness. He enjoyed working and fixing things, woodworking, carpentry, and especially spending time with his family.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Marti Janes of Macon, three children, Jeremy V. Janes and his wife Audrey of Oblong, IL, Joy K. Boling and her husband Michael of Hannibal, MO, and Zinna B. Legg and her husband Jeff of Ashland, MO, one “special friend daughter”, Terri Joe Bruner and her husband David of Woodville, MO, six grandchildren, Lynsie, Kyler, Maylie, Andrew, Micah, and Hannah, and one great granddaughter, Caileigh, one brother, John C. Janes of Clarence, MO, and other extended family and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be 4:00 pm, Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Crossroads Christian Church in Macon, with Bro. Matt Stieger officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, Saturday afternoon, at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Outreach International Mission, Crossroads Christian Church or A.L.S. Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon.
