December 28, 2018

Carol Evelyn (Seibert) Shaw, with her family by her side, went to be with our Lord on Monday, December 10, 2018 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Carol was born the youngest of 12 to Clarence and Alice Seibert on February 3, 1934. She married the love of her life, Jim Shaw, on April 22, 1953. Carol devoted her days to the farm life. She owned Scotland County Livestock alongside her husband for 5 years. She also ran the café at the sale barn where she became known for her home cooking and homemade pies. Carol also worked as a clerk and cashier for Reno Auction.

Throughout their marriage Carol was blessed with three daughters, Carla Shaw of Queen City, MO, Cindi McElroy and her husband Rob of Macon, MO and Teresa Myers and her husband Kevin of Macon, MO. Throughout the years Carol’s daughters blessed her with many grandchildren whom have carried on the value of family now through their children. Carla’s children are Amanda and Tim Ryals of Montgomery, AL and their children Timmy and Eric and Jammiey Bunch of Kirksville, MO. Cindi’s children are Laurie Peavler of Centralia, MO and her children Gannon and Gracie and Jesse and Lynn McElroy of Jacksonville, FL with their children Jackson and Evelynn. Teresa has three daughters, Shawna and Brent Harris of Macon, MO whom have Jordyn and Briley, Emily Barnes of Shelbina, MO with her children Isabel and Ian and Tacy and Rusty Reed of Macon, MO with their children Zoey, Kahlyn, Lilly, Skylar and Hunter. Carol also has three great-great granddaughters.

Aside from spending time with her family, Carol was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing and reading, playing cards and working in her rose garden in her tube top. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Alice Seibert and her siblings Elmer, Mike, Mary Lou, Hazel, Howard, Carl, Delbert, Wilfred, Ruthie and 2 infant sisters. The family of Carol finds peace in knowing she has now joined her sister and life long best friend Ruthie Shaw.

Even in hard times Carol leaves behind many moments of laughter to be shared. She leaves a legacy of family love, with roots that run deep. Where we are saddened by a loss, we are comforted by a life lived to its fullest, a life that taught forgiveness and values and humor in tough times. Not a day will pass that she will not be thought of and missed.
