Betty Jean (DeLoof) Hardwick, 92, of Columbia, Missouri passed away peacefully Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.

The daughter of Authur and Bessie DeLoof, she was born April 17, 1926 in Waukegan, Il. On June 1, 1946 in Quincy, Illinois, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” C. Hardwick, who preceded her in death on October 10, 2003. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sons-in-law.

Betty is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, William “Bill” C. Jr. and (Linda) of Russellville, MO., Robert “Bob” T. (Coe Ann) of Kirksville, MO., and 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jo Van Zandt (Lee) from the state of CA., Susan J. Aldridge (Ray) from Jefferson City, MO. and Donna L. Kearse of Newton, IA; Betty had 15 grandchildren; 11 grandsons; Danny Myers, Jeremy Yadon, Steve Aldridge, Kelly Hardwick, Eric Hardwick, Chris Kearse, David Hardwick, Andrew Kearse, Daniel Kearse, Zachary Kearse, Benjamin Kearse and 4 granddaughters; Amy DeBurgh, Tracy Dailey, Kari Floyd and Emilee Hix. She also had 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was very proud of them and enjoyed spending time with them.

In her earlier years she enjoyed embroidery, ceramics and after retirement found reading to be her favorite hobby.

Betty began her working career at Illinois Bell Telephone Company, later at Brashear School and NEMO State University. She worked the remainder of her 22 year career at Hollisters Inc. After her retirement, she spent the next 25 years spending time living near her children. She considered “raising her family” as her greatest accomplishment.

Funeral service will be Monday, December 31, 2018 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at 11:00 am. The visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Maple Hills Cemetery Mausoleum.
