Geneva L. Crawford, 101 of Kirksville passed away Monday (November 26, 2018) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Gilbert Earl and Susie May (Woodard) Cockrum, she was born October 24, 1917 in Leonard, Missouri. On October 21, 1937 in Twin Falls, Idaho she married Donal M. Crawford.

Geneva is survived by two daughters, Joyce Oestreich of Katie, TX and Jacqueline Nichols of Kirksville; four grandchildren, Carla (Rory) Murphy, Curt (Camille) Howe, Jamie (Adam) Siegel and Laura Nichols; 11 great grandchildren, Briana, Danielle, Brigid, Connor, William, Zoe, Tiernan, Maribeth, Daniel, Taylor, and Jaxson; two great great grandchildren, Alexis and Alexander; two nieces, Lynnette and Linda, and one nephew, Dean.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donal on August 11, 1990; and one brother, Patrick.

Geneva attended grade school at Perry in Knox County and McWilliams in Shelby County and graduated from Novelty High School. She spent most of her life in the Knox, Shelby and Macon Counties where her and Donal were engaged in farming and later dairy farming until they retired. In 1982 they moved to Kirksville.

She was a member of the Grace Community Church and that was a big part of her life. She enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, quilting, canning, and sewing. She was known for her pies, noodles and quilts she made. She was active in RSVP, Red Cross and the Oats bus. She had many adopted kids that stayed in her home over the years.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday (November 29, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday (November 30, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be the LaPlata Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Grace Community Church.
