Macon R-1 Graduate and Clarence Area Resident, Amy Harre, Appointed to Shelby County R-lV School Board

by BENJAMIN C. NELSON

After the resignations of Nathaniel Schoonover and Jarrell Foreman on the Shelby County R-lV School Board during this past summer, after advertising for several weeks in the local newspapers of the openings, the board held open interviews of roughly six individuals publicly for the possible replacements. This past Monday the Shelby County R-lV School Board officially picked and appointed the two replacements - Amy Harre and Darin Eleazarraraz of Clarence were appointed and sworn in at the monthly meeting.

Statement from Amy Harre:

I was born in Kansas City, went to Elementary & Middle school at Callao C-8, then on to high school at Macon R-1, graduating in 1993. After high school I worked at Special Days flower shop for six years. I then got a job at American Family Insurance where I worked for 13 years. I currently work at Clarence Care Center as an Administrative Assistant and part time at Loch Haven as their Medicare biller. I married Dustin Harre in 1999 & moved to Clarence. We have two boys, Colby is a Senior & Connor is an 8th grader at Shelby CO R-4. The redistricting issue this past summer made me realize that I wanted to continue to serve our kids & the district. Since my kids have been in school I have realized just how much love and support the administration and staff give to our students every single day. I hope to help make Shelby CO-R-4 the best school it can be for our Cardinals & our community. Cardinal Pride!

Sincerely,

Amy"

Side Note: Amy Harre was the Treasurer of "Cardinal Kids United" a committee of moms from Clarence and Shelbina which campaigned for voters to "Vote No" on Proposition 1 (School Boundary Change) throughout this past summer. Voters in both districts (Macon R-1 and Shelby County R-lV) would by a significant majority, “vote no” against the redistricting proposal in the August Election.
