Col. Charles Edgar “Charlie” Thomas, USA, retired, 81, of Moberly, died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at his home. He was born March 4, 1937 in Moberly to Harold O. and Thelma M. (Fullington) Thomas.

Charlie received his honorable discharge in 1987 from the United States Army in El Paso, TX. He had served for 25 years, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He traveled all over the world while in the Military including; France, Germany, Korea and numerous assignments in the U.S. He was part of the Health Service Command, serving as Chief of pharmacy for multiple Army hospitals and later served on the Inspector General Team. After retirement he worked as a pharmacist for both Walgreens in El Paso, TX and Kribbs Pharmacy in Moberly.

Charlie married Connie Kay Weatherford on May 28, 1966 in Moberly and she preceded him in death on January 9, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his children; Kerri Verlander and her husband Keith of Kansas City, MO, Mark Thomas and his wife Lisa of Moberly, MO and Matthew Thomas of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Charlie was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved spending time with his grandsons, Mason and Gavin, and being with his family and friends.

Memorial contributions to the National Military Family Association would be appreciated.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation, which will be, Thursday, September 6, 2018, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home with a prayer services at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass honoring and celebrating Charlie’s life will be Friday, September 7, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pius X Catholic Church. Committal prayers, burial and Military Honors will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
