Esther Juanita Shoemaker, 92, of Bevier, MO, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the Macon Healthcare Center in Macon.

Esther was born on March 2, 1926, in New Cambria, MO, the daughter of Creston and Ruby (Mulnix) Hulett. She was united in marriage to James B. “J.B.” Shoemaker on December 12, 1945. Esther loved her family most of all and cooking, sewing, and doing for others until she couldn’t any more.

Esther is survived by two children, Karen Buckner and her husband Don of Cairo, MO, and Larry Shoemaker of Bevier, four granddaughters, Michelle Reynolds of Glasgow, MO, Melinda Norton and her husband Troy of Columbia, MO, Melissa Breid of Lexington, MO, and Jessica Shoemaker of Bevier, ten great-grandchildren, Jerod Shoemaker, Tyler Shoemaker, Alex Norton, Savannah Norton, Katy Breid, Jack Breid, Erin Reynolds, Anne Reynolds, Molly Reynolds, and Darby Reynolds. All were her “Pride and Joy”. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Tate; two half-sisters, Carolyn Dorrell, and Jean Gardner; one half-brother, Charles Hulett; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband “J.B” on October 26, 2000, and two half-sisters, Susan Davis and Leota Mae Hulett.

A special thank you to Hospice Compassus and the Macon Healthcare Center and the nurses, nurse’s aides and other staff for the loving care they gave Esther.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Rev. Scott Dalrymple officiating. Burial will be in the Richardsdale Cemetery in Bevier. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
