Frederick Clark Christoffer Jr., age 93, of Clarence, Missouri, formerly of Shelbyville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Clarence Care Center in Clarence, Missouri.

Fred was born on June 24, 1925, the son of Frederick Sr. and Tora Helen (Baxter) Christoffer in Ayrshire, Iowa. On March 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Marie Stevenson at the Lutheran Church in Ayrshire, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2007.

He is survived by his four children, Connie Harland and husband Gene of Shelbina, Missouri, Renea Culler and husband Dennis of Shelbyville, Missouri, Buck Christoffer and wife Paula of Shelbyville, Missouri, and Henry Christoffer and wife Vicky of Shelbyville, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Lorraine McShane of Waterville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Quentin Christoffer; one great granddaughter, McKenna Munro; and one brother, Laurence Christoffer.

Fred was a member to the Mount Hope Lutheran Church. Over the years, he worked primarily as a farmer; however, he also worked highway construction and owned and operated Gerry’s Café in Shelbyville. He loved to play cards, tell jokes, camp, and fish. Fred loved to dance the Polka, Waltz, and Schottische. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri, with Pastor Elden Kohn as the officiant. A visitation will precede the funeral service from 1pm to 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Mt. Hope Lutheran Cemetery, north of Lentner, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors or the Shelbina Fire Department.
