Hooley (Donald) E. Sanford, age 74, of Clarence, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Clarence Care Center in Clarence, Missouri.

Hooley was born on June 30, 1944, in Kirksville, Missouri the son of Howard and Bessie (Hughes) Sanford . He was united in marriage to Deana Sue Bradshaw on June 2, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Shelbina, Missouri. She survives.

He is survived by his two children, Michael and wife Kathy of Winfield, Missouri, and Donnie and wife Tara of Ashland, Missouri; six grandchildren, Thomas, Shelby, Connor, Logan, Paisley, and Coder Sanford; honorary daughter, Deana Wray of Macon, Missouri; one honorary grandson, Christopher White; one brother-in-law, Pat Bradshaw; a special niece and nephew, Cathy Jones of Shelbyville, Missouri, and Steve Parton of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and other nieces and nephews, Will Stoneburner, Keith Bradshaw, Shelly Bradshaw, and Tricia Swain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Shirley Snipes, and one infant brother, Charles Dean.

Hooley served as a Specialist 4th Class in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. He was a member of the Clarence United Methodist Church, the Shelbina American Legion Post 376, and Masonic Lodge of Shelbina. He owned and operated a truck for several years, visiting every state in the country, except Alaska. Hooley enjoyed spending time with friends, fishing, and riding 4-wheelers. He cherished his family, and loved being a grandpa, “PePaw”, “Pop Pop”, and “Pumpa”.

Masonic services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri. A visitation will precede the funeral starting a 1 pm at the funeral home. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the Shelbina Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund, or the Clarence United Methodist Church.
