Marcia Ann (Melvin) York, 89 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on July 4, 2018.

The daughter of Fred Hern and Hazel Marie (Sizemore) Melvin, she was born on May 4, 1929 in Kirksville, Missouri. She was a Lancaster High School graduate in Lancaster, Missouri. She was united in marriage to James E. Judd on May 22, 1947 and to this union three children were born, James Frederick, Janet Marie and John Jeffrey. On February 13, 1988, she was united in marriage to Orval York.

Survivors include her three children, Jim Judd and wife, Diane of Greentop, Missouri, Janet Bailey of Louisville, Kentucky and Jeff Judd of Clearwater, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Natalie Anne Dye of Louisville, Kentucky, Jansen Edward Bailey and wife Adrienne of Louisville, Kentucky, James Kristopher Judd and wife, Sarah of Holts Summit, Missouri and Dr. Katherine Judd of Kirksville, Missouri; 4 great grandchildren, Ryan Jordan Bailey of Louisville, Kentucky, Joslyn, Jameson and Lenora Judd of Holts Summit, Missouri; one sister, Jean Jolly of Nashville, Tennessee, who passed away fourteen hours following Marcia’s passing; one sister-in-law, Virginia Melvin of Glenwood, Missouri; Orval York’s family; Ava, her little furry friend, who was an important part of Marcia’s life; nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orval York; one grandson, Jordan Lee Bailey; four brothers, Robert Melvin, Ralph Melvin, Steve Melvin and Roy Rowland Melvin in infancy; one sister, Margaret White and Marcia’s best friend, H. Middleton.

Marcia was employed from 1967 to 1991 as the Probate and Magistrate Court Clerk for Schuyler County. Prior to that position, she was employed in banking as well as the Missouri Extension service.

Marcia was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri for a number of years and a member of the CWS of the Lancaster Christian Church. She was also a PEO member for 52 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a board member for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site as well as a volunteer.

Marcia would lend a helping hand whenever needed to young and old alike. She showed support and kindness to a young girl in need of a home as well as to a young man struggling to find his way.

She was the heart of her family encouraging laughter, kindness and the value of the Christian spirit. Music, laughter and love were the catalyst behind her existence.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Pastors Billy Wallace, Steve Altheide and Jerry Weller officiating. Music will be provided by Darla Dixon, pianist and Penny Brummer, song leader performing special selections of “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” and “Glory For Me”. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Valentine, Kris Judd, Gerald Steen, Jansen Bailey, Jay Reese and Steve Wilcox. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
