Gregory Shawn “Bird” Compton, 51 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home. He was born March 12, 1967 in Milan to Jerry Dale Compton and Joyce Faye Tucker.

Greg married Linda Kay Wallace Coursey on December 6, 2015 in Milan, she survives him of the home. Also surviving: two step sons, Brian Coursey of Humphreys, Missouri and Bradley Coursey of Galt, Missouri; his mother and step father, Joyce and Eddie Miller of Milan; two brothers, Rick Compton of Milan and Tony Compton of Milan; four step sisters, Missie and husband Rod Cotton of Chillicothe, Missouri, Michelle and husband Bill Plogher of Kearney, Missouri, Ellen and husband Terry Gray of Queen City, Missouri, and Cheryl and husband Jeff Conner of Green City; a step brother, Vincent Miller of Milan; a nephew, Tanner Compton; a niece, April Montgomery; two great nieces, Jasmine Compton and Zoie Montgomery; and many brothers and sisters-in-laws. He was preceded in death by: His father in 1973; an Uncle, Tommy Tucker; and father-in-law, Ora Wallace; and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Greg was a lifelong resident of Milan. He farmed and worked at Con Agra from 1986 until the plant closed. He was a member of the Milan Elks Lodge and enjoyed arrowhead hunting, turkey hunting, and deer hunting. Greg loved his dog, Roscoe. He always had a smile on his face, was hardworking, and always willing to help others.

Funeral services for Greg will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at the Scobee Cemetery, North of Milan. A visitation is scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday evening at the funeral home.
