Harlan Cress
Harlan Eugene Cress, 95, of Bevier, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Macon Health Care Center in Macon, MO.
Harlan was born on July 30, 1922, north of Bevier, the son of Harve Earl and Ada Blanche (Christman) Cress. He served in the US Navy. Harlan was united in marriage to Darlene Berniece McElhaney on June 11, 1945, in Callao, MO. Harlan was a farmer, a carpenter, worked concrete, ran a backhoe, plumber, and was a gifted woodworker. He loved working on his Model T Truck, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and spending time with his family.
Harlan is survived by three daughters, Helen (Stoebe) Cress of Moberly, MO, Marilyn Pfeifer and her husband Marvin of Bevier, and Beverly Hill and her husband Brian of Bevier, nine grandchildren, Denise Lacy, Jerry Dean Stoebe, Tory Stoebe, Robin Stevens, Debbie McGhee, Janet Baker, Nick Pfeifer, Kerri Miller, and Krista Bruenn, twenty-five great-grandchildren, several great great-grandchildren and great great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on April 16, 2007, one grandson, Terry Stoebe, two sisters, Leona Twyman and Estelle Harrington, and two brothers, Lawrence and Chester Cress.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Rev. Scott Dalrymple officiating. Burial will be in the West Oakwood Cemetery in Bevier. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home in Macon. The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church in Bevier.
