November 07, 2017

Mary Jo Weaver, age 77, of Shelbina, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Salt River Community Care Center in Shelbina, Missouri.

Mary Jo was born on March 2, 1940, in Shelbina, Missouri, the daughter of Albert Ross Metcalf and Mildred Cochrane.

She is survived by her three children, David Scott Weaver of Columbia, Missouri, Corby Lynn Smith (Jay) of Hannibal, Missouri, and Kristen Kay Kinney of Shelbina, Missouri; six grandchildren, Lacy Jo Kohn (Terry), Brianna Renee Cochenour, Delanie Nicole Cochenour, Matthew Isaiah Cochenour, Michael Patrick Kinney, and Leah Kae Weaver; one great grandson, Terrance Lane Otto Kohn; and two sisters, Mildred Joyce Mayes of Shelbina, Missouri and Twyla Fay Brewer of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Joshua William Hill; one brother, Clyde Cochrane Metcalf; and one sister, Joan Elizabeth Neuman.

Some of Mary Jo’s favorite places were Rutledge Flea Market and going to antique shops. She had numerous foster children through her home. She knitted scarves and gloves and often delivered them with her grandchildren to homeless shelters, and veteran’s homes. She also sewed and patched her grandkids clothes and made several quilts. Mary Jo had one particular story she told of her coat of many colors, which her mom made her when she was in the fourth grade. If you played cards in Shelbina, Clarence, Monroe City, Steffenville, or Paris, you probably played against her. Most of all, she loved her friends and family dearly.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 5 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri. A visitation will precede the service from 3pm to 5pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors or Helping Hand of Clarence.
