GLADYS LAVAUN JANES

Gladys Lavaun Janes, age 85, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 at her home in Clarence.

Gladys Lavaun was born on January 25, 1931, in Clarence, MO, the daughter of Virgil Elery Cockrum and Ona May Brown. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Janes on May 28, 1951 in Shelbina, MO. He survives.

She is survived by three children, Jeffery Hugh Janes, Brenda Kay (Janes) Rufener, and Pamela Renee Janes; grandchildren, Jesse and Jennifer Janes of Macon, MO, Frank Janes of Macon, MO, Michael and Jessica Janes of Moberly, MO, Katherine Rufener and Ona Rufener of Clarence, MO, Bradley and Ashley Willey of Clarence, Derek and Hillary Janes of Shelbyville, MO, McKenzie Craigg of Clarence, MO; great grandchildren, Justin, Adelyn, and Levi Janes, Keith and Eli Janes, and Alivia and Barrick Willey; one brother, Donald Cockrum; and one sister, Faye Schloemer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Weldon Janes; one sister, Zola Morgan; and five brothers, Darrel Cockrum, Lester Cockrum, Pearl “Big” Cockrum, Harold “Tiny” Cockrum, and Joe Cockrum.

Gladys Lavaun was a lifetime member of the America Legion and a member of the Clarence Christian Church. For several years, she coordinated the blood mobile at the VFW Hall in Clarence. She loved to watch birds, especially hummingbirds. Gladys Lavaun was an avid marble and pitch player. She loved her flowers, especially red roses. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. Most of all, she cherished her time with her family and spending time at home on the farm.
