Jerald Franklin “Jerry” Riley, 82, of Madison, MO died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. He was born May 28, 1934 in Madison, MO to Estil Charles and Dorothy Temple (Brown) Riley.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army before receiving an honorable discharge in 1957.

Jerry was a lifetime farmer, who had also worked at the Toastmaster Factory and the Moberly Area Community College, prior to his retirement. He married Shirley Ann Gooch on July 9, 1957 in Pittsburg, PA and she survives of Boonville, MO. Also surviving are his children, Jerry Dale Riley of Madison, MO and Joni Riley of Kansas City, MO, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William R. “Billy” and Donald E. Riley.

Memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project would be appreciated.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation which will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Services honoring and celebrating Jerry’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. Committal prayers, military honors and burial will be in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery.
