MERREL CYRENE STUDER

Merrel Cyrene Studer , age 86, of Shelbyville, MO, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016, at the Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Merrel was born August 30, 1930 in Shelbina, MO, the son of Vernon Studer and Hazel Cecil Barzee. He was united in marriage to Fern Miller on October 17, 1954 in Shelbina, MO. She survives.

Merrel is survived by his five children, Carol Corey and husband Albert of Maywood, MO, Cindy Jones and husband Bill of Shelbina, MO, Richard Studer and wife Linda of Shelbina, MO, Mary O’Brian and husband Curtis of Kansas City, MO, and David Studer and wife Robin of Monroe City, MO; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren; one brother, James Studer and wife Wendy of Centerville, IA; and one sister, Betty Swanson of Bluegrass, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandchild, Austin Corey; brothers, Elmer and Leroy Studer; and one sister, Laura Jean Milner.

Merrel was a member of the First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion of Shelbina, MO. He enjoyed farming, going to Old Threshers, and spending time with family.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Visitation services are Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelbina Cemetery in Shelbina, MO following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Salt River Activities Fund and Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
