Genevieve Cameron, 92, of Macon, MO, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Cedar View Cottage in Macon, MO.
Genevieve was born on May 6, 1924, in Mishawaka, IN, the daughter of James and Hazel (Biddle) Valentine. She was united in marriage to Theodore Selby Cameron on December 11, 1954, in Clovis, NM. Genevieve started playing the violin at age five, and was a concert violinist in Washington D.C. Genevieve was known for her quick wit and enjoyed music, going to lakes, watching Blue Bloods, birds and especially spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Ham of Vidalia, GA, Jane Hays of Macon, MO, Linda William and husband Wayne of Gainesville, VA; eight grandchildren, Heather (Carney) Little, Larry Carney, Christie Drewry, Mark Williams, Tim Highsmith, William Highsmith, Theodore Highsmith, and Sherman Highsmith; six great grandchildren, Kylie Drewry, Jacob Drewry, Teagan Little, Melody Highsmith, Blake Highsmith, and Jenna Highsmith; two sisters, Mary Ann Mason of Foyl, OK, and Shirley Gossard of Long Beach, CA.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, Dennis Brooks, one grandson, Jason Williams, two sons-in-law, Britt Hays and Charles Ham.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 3 pm at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Burial will be held at a later date will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, alongside her husband. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon from 2 pm until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to the Macon R-1 band program.
