Viola Mae “Vi” Weis

Viola Mae “Vi” Weis, 92, died Monday evening, August 22, 2016, at Meadow Ridge Estates in Moberly. Viola was born August 13, 1924, in Boonesboro, MO, to Noble Woods and Minnie Mae (Maddox) Kivett.

Vi graduated from Glasgow High School and worked for Southwestern Bell for 14 years. She was a member of Coates Street Presbyterian Church and an avid fundraiser and supporter of church special events. She also was a volunteer at the Stubbins Youth Center. Vi was a dedicated Missouri Tiger football fan and loved to play bridge.

She married Robert Turley Weis on May 19, 1952, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2013. Also, preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers NW, Melvin, and Allen Kivett; and four sisters Laura Elizabeth Pipkins, Marjorie Lundhoy, Zola Hollaway, and Ruth Stipes.

Survivors include her children: Kaye (Dennis) Spalding of Monroe City, Gary Weis of Moberly, Bob (Carol) Weis of Columbia, and David (Chris) Weis of Moberly; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters Juanita Thornton of Boise, ID, and Patsy Lanham of Glasgow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions to the Coates Street Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation, which will be Saturday, August 27, from 10:00 A.M. until 12 noon at Cater Funeral Home. Services honoring and celebrating Vi’s life will follow the visitation at 12 noon. Committal prayers and burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery
