Gwendolyn Berenice Jackson

Gwendolyn Berenice Jackson, 92, of Moberly passed away August 18, 2016, at Moberly Nursing and Rehab. She was born August 11, 1924 in Moberly to Dr. William and Mrs. Ada Ruth (Vaughn) Conway.

She joined the Second Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by Rev. William Hill. She completed elementary and high school at Lincoln School in Moberly.

Gwendolyn lived most of her adult life in Chicago, IL, and Altadena, CA. Prior to retirement in 1983 she worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Company for many years. She was united in marriage to Ora James Jackson of Moberly, MO, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1982. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother Earnest Leon Conway.

Survivors include her cousins, Zella Spicer of Columbia, Dr. Kenneth Vaughn and wife Brenda of Detroit, MI, Regina Vaughn Lee of Moberly; sister-in-law, Julia Conway of Kansas City, MO; goddaughter Tana Washington and husband Pierre of San Jose, CA; several nieces and nephews; and a long-time friend Fleta Gross of Moberly; many other cousins and friends.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting dolls.

Services honoring and celebrating Gwendolyn's life were at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial will be at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California at a later date.
