Donald Garr, 72, of Unionville, MO, passed away unexpectedly at his home in rural Unionville on Sunday, August 21, 2016.

Donald Ray Garr was born in Livonia, MO, on October 19, 1943, the son of Raymond and Velma (Bunnell) Garr, who preceded him in death. He was reared in Mendota, MO, and soon after his school years Donald went to work for Lockridge Hatchery in Unionville. He later worked for Missouri Mining, Perkins DX, and McCormack’s MFA Station. He worked for a number of years with the city of Unionville and retired in 2006. He then was engaged mowing yards all over the area, having nearly 100 clients.

Donald loved to visit with people and didn’t know a stranger. He was easy going and a friend to anyone. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Donald also had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid fan of truck and tractor pulls and also enjoyed car shows. He loved to attend the Putnam County Fair and auctions. Donald loved most his grandchildren and family.

Donald is survived by a son, Bobby Garr, of Kirksville, MO; and two daughters, Tammy Jacques and husband Marty of Novinger, MO, and Loretta Rozell and husband Kevin of St. Joseph, MO. He is also survived by Casandra Casady, whom he thought of as a daughter, and her fiancé Eric O’Connell. He is also survived 11 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister, Geneva (Junior) Holliday of Pollock, MO, and a brother Carl (Joyce) Garr, Greentop, MO.

Donald was preceded in death by two daughters, Malinda Garr and Betty Garr. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Clay and Geneieve Campbell and two brothers, Edward and Jimmy Garr. He was also preceded in death by Patricia (Black) Garr, a wife.

Funeral services for Donald Garr will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Friday, August 26, 2016, with visitation on Thursday, August 25, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Putnam County Fair or the Unionville Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
