Jim Anderson, age 71, of Linneus, died Monday, August 22, 2016, at his home.

A funeral service will be Friday, August 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Linneus. Visitation will begin Thursday at 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening.

James Ellis, the oldest son of Elzia and Naomia (Teeter) Anderson, was born August 17, 1945 in Bosworth. In 1964, he married Martha Wiley; they had two children, Greg and Scott Anderson. On January 28, 1990, he married Sherry Smith, who had four children, John, Dean, Gary Lee and Carrie Smith.

Jim was a lifetime resident of the Linneus area, he owned and operated Jim’s Auto Body Shop in Linneus since 1986. He was a US Army Veteran, serving from 1964-1966 and fought in the Vietnam War. He was acting Mayor of Linneus from 2003 until his death. He loved the outdoors and spent many years perfecting his fishing and shooting skills. At the time of his death, he was a nationally ranked Master’s Class and All American among sporting clay shooters.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry of the home; five children, Greg Anderson and wife, Lana of the State of Indiana, Scott Anderson and wife, Penny of Wheeling, John Stark and wife, Brenda of Nevada, Gary Lee Johnston of Laclede, and Carrie Bergman and husband, Greg of Shawnee, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; and ten siblings and their families.

His parents; an infant sister, Helen Louise Anderson; one son, Dean Stark; and one grandson, Shawn Anderson preceded him in death.
