Sarah Margaret (Yance) Wilcox

Sarah Margaret (Yance) Wilcox, 95 of Moberly, died Sunday, July 10, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She had been in failing health. Margaret was born July 11, 1921, in Headland, AL, to Elbert Hezekiah and Willie E. (Brown) Yance.

She attended Henry County Alabama Schools; graduating in 1939. Margaret was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 70 years; was a member of the Tri-Me Sunday School Class and was a long-time member of the United Methodist Women’s Club. She thoroughly enjoyed delivering the church tape to area nursing homes, and was very active in the American Cancer Society for a number of years.

Margaret married Robert F. “Bob” Wilcox on December 8, 1945 in Macon, GA, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2012. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, three sisters, two sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, and one nephew.

Survivors include her children Robert Wayne Wilcox and wife Sandra of Moberly, Jeanie Wilcox Byland of Columbia, Daniel Y. Wilcox and wife Shelli of Moberly; six grandchildren, Sarah Byland of Columbia, Heidi Wilcox Singer and husband Jeff of Hartsburg, Walt Wilcox of Moberly, Chloe’ Wilcox Pickle and husband Derek of Alexandria, VA, Anna Wilcox of Moberly, Chris Wheeler of Higbee, a sister-in-law, Ginia L. “Ginny” Dick of Gilbert, AZ; ten nephews, two nieces, other relatives and friends.

Margaret loved her family, church, and friends dearly.

Memorial contributions to the Special Olympics Missouri, or the Trinity United Methodist Church Endowment Fund would be appreciated.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the public visitation which will be Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home. Services honoring and celebrating Margaret’s life will be Friday 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, with committal services, prayer, and burial to follow at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery.
