MACTEC Director and Macon Head Football Coach, Pete Claas, submits resignation

MACON, MO -- Coach Pete Class has submitted his resignation in which June 30th, 2020 will be his last day with the Macon R-1 School District. Claas has been with the district for the last 17 years where he has served as Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, and Director of Macon Area Career and Technical Education Center (MACTEC). Claas first joined the district in 2003 as Assistant Principal/Athletic Director and since 2011, has been Director of MACTEC. Coupled with his responsibilities within district administration, he has also been head coach of the Macon Tiger High School Football Program. Coach Claas will leave the helm of the Macon program with a winning record of 115-71 and an overall coaching record of 132-84. The Macon Tiger Football Program were Clarence Cannon Conference Champs (CCC) in 2016, which was the first one in 25 years, and then later co-champs in 2018 (sharing it with Monroe City). In 2010 the football program made an appearance in State Semi-Finals. Among a collection of awards, Claas has been named CCC Coach of the Year throughout his career.

When asked why he resigned and what is next, Claas did not provide a comment.
