MACON, MO – Chariton Valley (CV) and Macon Electric Cooperative (MEC) join forces to positively impact communities they serve with ‘Co-ops in Action’. This program is a joint effort between the two cooperatives, where together they dedicate time and employees to tackle work projects for the communities they serve.

The eighth project since inception took place at the New Cambria City Park where MEC and CV employees worked together at the City Park to paint the stage and put together some playground equipment purchased by the New Cambria Chamber of Commerce.

“We are excited to provide premiere services to our customers while also investing time assisting with their community projects,” says Donna Bell, CV’s Manager of Public Relations and Economic Development. “We appreciate our customers’ loyalty over the years and feel it is important to give back,” she concluded.

“Giving back to our communities is the cooperative way,” stated Allie Bennett, MEC Marketing and Communications Manager. “Co-ops in Action is a great opportunity for us to give back to our membership and help our local communities to thrive.”

To request a project, community or organization leaders submit a Project Request Form. If the request is approved, a volunteer workday is established. These projects are non-monetary based, therefore CV and MEC simply provide the labor to complete the job, while the group or organization is responsible for providing the materials.

Applications for Co-ops in Action may be found at www.cvalley.net or www.maconelectric.com. Groups or organizations who need assistance with a project may apply to have work completed through Co-ops in Action. The program is currently seeking applications for fourth quarter 2019 projects.
