Daniel “Danny” Lavern Shoemaker, 89, of Bevier, MO, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the Boone County Medical Center in Columbia, MO.

Danny was born on August 14, 1929, in West Liberty, IA, the son of Charles Richard and Jessie E. (Call) Shoemaker. He severed in the United States Army from 1949-1952 and was stationed in Germany. Danny was united in marriage to Louise Tuttle on January 26, 1957, in Bevier. He worked for A. J. Noll Car Dealership in Macon before he went to work for Peabody Coal. Danny enjoyed playing cards, fishing, mowing yards, visiting with friends at Rick’s Service, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and especially spending time with his family.

Danny is survived by three grandchildren, Nathan Jett and his fiancé Allison of Moberly, MO, Natisha Jett of Bevier, Teddy Papadopoulos and his wife Crystal of Bevier, four great grandchildren, Kayden, Korbin, Kaleb, and Alex, Danny’s two little buddies, Harper and Brendan, one son-in-law, Clifford “Bubby” Nute of Bevier, and nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on January 22, 2010, and his daughter, Kathy Bea Nute on July 10, 2018.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon, with Rev. Scott Dalrymple officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the New Addition of the Oakwood Cemetery in Bevier. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday evening, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
