Louise Zita Shiflett MARCH 24, 1925 ~ JANUARY 4, 2019 (AGE 93)

Louise Zita Shiflett, 93, of Moberly passed away January 4, 2019. She was born March 24, 1925 in St Cloud, Minnesota to Joseph and Barbara (Emslander) Sis.

After graduating high school, she received her Registered Nursing degree from the St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at the Wabash and Woodland Hospitals in Moberly, MO.

She married Finis “Leon” Shiflett Febuary 19, 1955 in Moberly. Leon preceded her in death June 26, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents, seven sisters and four brothers: Hildegard Sis, Bernadette Krischel, Alfrieda Barthel, Agnes Heinen, Frances Nowak, Rita Traut, Marie Tschida, Edwin, Andrew, Joseph, and Oswald Sis.

Survivors include her children, Carol Tipton and her husband Mike of Moberly, MO, Sharon Burton of Sturgeon, MO, Theresa Pfaff and her husband Dale of Moberly, MO, Gwen Anderson and her husband John of Lees Summit, MO, Shelley Shiflett of Clark, MO, Sheila Luehrs and her husband Larry of Lexington, MO, seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Louise was a doting “Granny” and adored spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and as a way to spread her great faith she crocheted over 90 prayer shawls for her family and friends.

Memorials to St Pius X School Foundation, Hospice Compassus, and Higbee Senior Citizens Center would be appreciated.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at services Wednesday, January 9th. Visitation will be held from 9:00am - 11:00am at St Pius X Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am. Committal prayers and burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Armstrong, MO.
