Kenneth Edward Sanford November 1, 1931 - December 22, 2018

Kenneth Edward Sanford, age 87 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Born November 1, 1931 in rural Green Castle, Missouri, the son of Richard Ray and Nettie Jane (Snyder) Sanford. On August 19, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri he was united in marriage to Lucille Baugher who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Sharon (John) Gladbach, Barbara Tuggle, and Diana (Victor) Pippin, all of La Plata, Missouri; six grandchildren, Sonya Merry, Chris Gladbach, Jeremy and Bethany Gladbach, Lisa and Kris McDow, Greg Tuggle and Molly, and Aaron Pippin and Natousha; seven great grandchildren, Jason and Angel, Dayson, Aden and Gabriel, Roxie and Avery; two sisters, Clara Truitt and Leilia Damron of Kirksville, Missouri; in-laws, Thelma Daniels of Novinger, Missouri and Harold and Jan Baugher of Kirksville, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His parents; one son-in-law, Tom Tuggle; and three Brothers-in-law, Delvin Truitt, Bud Damron, and Jim Daniels preceded him in death.

Kennie was a 1950 graduate of Novinger High School, and later served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He later made his home in the Pure Air and Ringo Point community in rural Adair County and spent most of his life farming. In 1995 he and Lucille left the family farm and moved to La Plata to be closer to his daughters.

Kennie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially coyote hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with family and teaching his grandkids how to hunt and fish, watching NASCAR on television, and especially enjoyed going to watch Greg race go-karts at Downing, Missouri.

He will be greatly missed by his family, neighbors, past and present, and his many hunting buddies!

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2018 with the family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
