Rose Helen Akins March 28, 1924 - December 25, 2018

Rose Helen Akins, age 94 of Bucklin, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at McLarney Manor in Brookfield. Rose Helen was born in Lingo, Missouri on March 28, 1924 to Frank and Rosa (Chervenka) Podzimek. She married John Akins Jr. (Jack) on May 25, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 2001.

Rose Helen was a homemaker and farm wife and had worked at Whitaker Cable. She was a 1942 graduate of Bucklin High School and had attended Mt. Zion Church and Bucklin Christian Church.

She is survived by three sons, Darrell Akins and Jeanie of Bucklin, Joe Akins and Rita of Austin, TX, and Jerry Akins and Mary Ann of Scottsboro, AL, daughter Linda Black and Doug of Brookfield, 8 grandchildren, Bryan, John, Ryan, Katy, Tim, Jenna, and Rachel Akins and Kelli Black, 2 step grandsons, Sean and Chris Black, 5 great grandchildren, Nathan, Ava and Catherine Akins, Luke Lusk, and Annika Black, and sister-in-law June Standley of Ethel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Francis Podzimek.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, December 28, 2018 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with burial in the Masonic Cemetery, Bucklin. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, December 27 at the funeral home in Marceline. Memorials may be made to McLarney Manor Activity Fund or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and mailed to 1720 N.
