Irene (Truitt) Snyder July 4, 1919 - December 1, 2018

Irene Truitt Snyder, 99, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 1st, 2018, at

Twin Pines Adult Care Center.

The daughter of Mina and Minnie (Preston) Truitt, she was born July 4th, 1919 in Novinger, MO. On February 20th, 1937, she was united in marriage to Carroll Lavern Snyder who preceded her in death on November 17th, 1963.

Irene is survived by three daughters and two son-in-laws, Patricia Phipps of Columbia, MO, Marilyn Riley of Kirksville, MO, Brenda and Kenneth Swisher of Blue Springs, MO, and Eugene Novinger of Gladstone, MO: One sister-in-law, Lottie Truitt. Seven grandchildren, Debbie (Danny) Stephens of Kansas City MO, Rick Novinger of Albany, NY, Brett (Sarah) Phipps of Columbia, MO, Terri (Larry) Clay of LaPlata, MO, Denise Riley of Kirksville, MO, Jennifer Swisher of Lee's Summit, MO, Ken (Laura) Swisher of Lee's Summit, MO: Ten great-grandchildren, Charissa (Paul) Craft, Ava Althoff, Lillian Phipps, Kaitlyn Phipps, Emma Phipps, Ethan Phipps, Travis (Jessica) Hoffman, Jacob Pennick, Hailey Swisher, and Wesley Swisher: One great-great-grandchild Kayla Craft: as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Virgil Truitt, Lyle Truitt, and one in infancy: eight sisters Mary Holt, Christine Laske, Mildred McKim, Letha Hyde, Myrtle Leininger, Geneva Clark, and two in infancy: one daughter, Shirley Jean Novinger in 2010: two son-in-laws, Carroll Phipps in 2007, and James Riley in 2009: one grandson, Brandon Swisher in 1972: one great-grandson, Dylan Miller in 2002, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Irene was born and raised in Novinger, MO and attended school at Tipperary. She was employed by McGraw Edison Co. She was also a cook for several area restaurants along and with her own restaurant, Irene's Cafe. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caretaker for many children over the years. She took great pleasure in spending time with her family and cooking for them. She also enjoyed music, gardening, canning, and watching the Cardinals baseball team.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Beard officiating. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 for one hour before the 2:00 p.m. service time in the chapel.

Pallbearers will be: Danny Stephens, Rick Novinger, Brett Phipps, Larry Clay, Ken Swisher and Travis Hoffman.
