Fatal Hunting Accident Reported

On 11-11-2018 at approximately 3:15p.m. the Macon County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a hunting cabin located in the area of State Highway J and State Highway 3 near Atlanta, Missouri, for a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound.

While on scene deputies identified the victim as 70-year-old, Charles T. Bark, of Marengo, Illinois. After investigating the incident deputies concluded Bark and other hunters were preparing to go hunting when a rifle was accidently discharged by another hunter. Bark was fatally struck by the discharged bullet. Bark was pronounced deceased on scene by Macon County Coroner Brian Hayes.

An autopsy has been scheduled later in the week
