Robert P. Walker 1923 ~ 2018 (AGE 95)

Robert P. Walker, 95 years old, of Kirksville, Missouri, formerly of Green City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Twin Pines Nursing Home in Kirksville.

Robert was born February 17, 1923 in Green City, to Charles and Esther (LaFaver) Walker. On January 22, 1947, he married Marea (Ames) Walker; she preceded him in death in 2016. He is also preceded by: his parents; a brother, Wayne Walker; and a sister, Mary Muder.

Survivors include: One daughter, Wanda Lynch and husband Daniel of Houston, Texas; two sons, Carroll Walker and wife Marilyn of Green City and Joe Walker and wife Janet of Jefferson City, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Sarah Lynch and husband Shawn Stephens, Rachel Carleton and husband Geoff, Martha Eaves and husband Bradley, Benjamin Walker and wife Georgina, Courtney Walker, and Adam Walker; 10 great grandchildren, Hannah, Rebekah, Lydia, Andrew, Stella, Audrey, Reagan, Beau, Jennifer, and Lexi; 3 brothers, Eugene Walker of Green City, Lynn Walker of Danville, Iowa, Jerald Walker of Fredonia, Kansas; 3 sisters, Marjorie Keith of Hannibal, Missouri, Esta Fulghum of Dallas, Texas, and Ruby Heppe of Lynn Haven, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was a lifelong resident of rural Green City and member of the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church. Robert was a veteran in the Army Air Corp. as a member of the 91st Troup Carrier Squadron, serving during World War II in Normandy, South France, Rome Arno, North France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.

Robert farmed his entire life. He enjoyed Air Force reunions, traveling, and tinkering in woodworking. He was a Cardinals Baseball fan. Robert loved visiting with his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services for Robert will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, East of Green City with Military Honors. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home.
