A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, Donald Lee “Donnie” Spicer, 61, of Moberly, died September 4, 2018 at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born July 4, 1957 in Moberly to Donald R. and Rosalie (Gurwell) Spicer.

Donnie was a 1975 graduate of Moberly Senior High School and he married Gina White on September 15, 1978 in Cairo, Mo. Donnie and Gina moved to Columbia, Mo in 1985 and resided there until 2017 when they returned to Moberly.

Donnie had worked for the Laborers Union Local 955 for 28 year upon his retirement in 2003.

Donnie married Gina White on September 15, 1978 in Cairo, MO and she survives. Also surviving are his parents, his son, Josh Spicer and his wife Roni of Moberly, step-son, Ian Kable and his wife Rachel of Columbia, MO, a granddaughter, Alexis Spicer, two step- grandchildren, Logan and Ginny Kable, a brother, Ronnie Spicer of Moberly, a sister Kimi Spicer Arnold and her husband Terry of Sedalia, MO, mother-in-law, Connie Dulany of Moberly, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Donnie was a kind and caring individual with a deep love for his family and friends, one of his favorite things to do was to spend time with his granddaughter Alexis. Donnie made a point to always dress well and look his best and he made everyone feel welcome with his bright smile and friendly personality. Although he was a quiet guy, he had a contagious sense of humor that he paired with jokes and silliness. Donnie had a passion for live music and being outdoors which included spending time on the MKT trail. One of the biggest thrills in the last part of Donnie’s life was to move back to Moberly, his hometown, and enjoy Rothwell Park. Donnie regularly attended the Cowboy Church where he and Gina were able to find peace for his future through the word of God.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation, which will be Friday, September 7, 2018, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home. Services honoring and celebrating Donnie’s life will be Saturday, September 8, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
